Yum Cha Garden Restaurant
The first impression on Yum Cha Restaurant is a typical Hong Kong Style restaurant serving Hong Kong dim sum. Over the years, Yum Cha Restaurant has evolved and developed into a full fledged Chinese restaurant serving many unique dishes. The food review invitation was part of the efforts to create the awareness on their series of revamped menu.
Yum Cha Garden Restaurant is located in the Serangoon Country Club, a relatively big dining area with VIP rooms for private event. The special ten course dinner covered from starters to main course, dim sum and desserts. So, we got a good chance to taste a wide range of the delicacies prepared by the chefs.
Starters
Deep fried Salmon Fish Skin
Thinly sliced salmon fish skin with light seasoned and deep fried to produce a crisp finishing, who can resist this snack?
Roasted pork
The distinct layers of fat and lean meat were packed with juices and tenderness, the alluring golden skin gave the extra crisp texture, a little more flavor will make it perfect.
Dim Sum
We had ordered at least twice from Yum Cha on their home delivery dim sum for our family events, something we are fairly familiar and already has our endorsement.
Siew Mai
Chives dumpling
Cheese Prawn Ball with Almond
Main course
Salted egg Prawn
Fresh prawn fried with salted egg, you have to taste the salted egg on the shell and not the peeled prawn meat.
Roast Chicken with cereal
Crisp skin with tender and juicy chicken, topped with fried cereal to give the extra flavour. We find it was an ordinary dish and not so much of excitement.
Pomfret Tapino (打邊爐)
A whole fresh pomfret was sliced, served with tenderly Taro with green vegetable in a hotpot. The broth was a flavourful milky white, end result was a luscious bowl of fish slice that you definitely don’t mind for the extra serving.
In fact, you can just order this signature dish and go with rice or different type of noodles eg. udon. Good enough to make a day.
Beancurd with Broccoli
Silky smooth beancurd cooked with the broccoli and the pumpkin sauce. A tasty and healthy dish.
Fried Rice
Served in a claypot, packed with lots of goodies from Chinese sausage, mushroom and dried shrimp etc the grainy rice fully absorbed the essence of the ingredients and seasoning, a dish will not disappoint you.
Desserts
Apple jelly and lemon ice-cream
Do not miss this one! The perfect sweetness and sourness hit the right note and welcome by the adults and kids. Try the Durian glutinous ball as well, silky soft and wrapped with the durian, lovely desserts you got try.
Our verdict, Yum Cha has several good new dishes that worth to try; we highly recommend the Promfet Tapino, Dim Sum, Fried rice and Desserts. Yum Cha is certainly a good place for dining with family and friends with its good food and reasonable price.
