TAO Seafood Restaurant 4

The name “TAO” is derived from the name “Lao Tao”, a synonyms of foodies in the ancient Chinese, it is a name reflects well on their business on appreciation of great food,  we are one of the “Lao Tao” that invited to review the new menu that scheduled to be launched soon.

TAO Seafood Restaurant 3

Appetizer Crisp Fish Skin with Salted egg sauce $10

TAO Seafood Restaurant 1

Fried Salmon Skin is common but cooked with salted eggs truly elevated the flavour to the next level. Great appetizer and must try.

Chilled Jellyfish Salad $10

TAO Seafood Restaurant 2

We like the crunchiness of jellyfish but seasoning can be a little light with the lacking of sourness, spiciness and some sweetness.

TAO Signature Soup with Premium Fish Maw and Crabmeat $68

TAO Seafood Restaurant 5

The broth is made of TEO Seafood secret recipe to attain a thick and rich broth that was savoury.  The fresh fish maw and crabmeat added to the broth gave the soup the extra flavour.

Steamed lived Marble Goby (Soon Hock) with Preserved Radish – seasonal price

TAO Seafood Restaurant 6

Fresh Soon Hock steamed to perfection with chai poh (preserved radish) and soy sauce, a true showcase of the culinary skills by the chefs.

Stir Fried Fish Maw with Prawns $44

TAO Seafood Restaurant 7

Imported fresh fish maw from New Zealand, stir fried to attain a perfect finishing, a dish so far only mastered by one of the chefs. It is a real test of the culinary skills to ensure the fried fish maw attained the right tenderness yet with the right firmness with perfect light crisp exteriorly. Taste was heavenly delightful.

You will be reminded to finish the dish within five minutes when served else the fish maw will lose its perfect texture. For a photographer, I need to finish the shot in seconds before got whacked by all, most challenging shot so far.

White pepper crab $6 per 100g

TAO Seafood Restaurant 8

Not at all lost out to the famous no signboard white pepper crab, the freshness of the crab fried with the Premium white pepper produced a result of another luscious crab dish that the restaurant can be proud of.

Pot Roasted Crab with Glass Noodles $45

TAO Seafood Restaurant 9

Another signature dish from the restaurant, small fire stove was used to steam and cook the glass noodles with the crab and heavy seasoned with garlic. Result was a pot of Thai style seafood glass noodle that infused with the essence of the goodness from the crab and garlic. Crab could be a little bland with all the sweetness channeled to the glass noodles.

TAO Seafood Restaurant 10

Sea Coconut with Longans $6

Sea Coconut was heavy on the sugary syrup and a tab too sweet to our liking. Do squeeze some fresh lime to balance the overly sweetness.

Snow Fungus with Red Dates and Gingko Nuts $8

A nice bowl of typical Chinese dessert.

Guilin Herbal Jelly $6

The tortoise shell jelly has always such a medicinal effects on beauty that the two ladies empty the bowl of jelly without any difficulties no matter how full the stomach they are.

The jelly was not as bitter as it used to be and pleasantly comforting to the taste.

Our verdict, TAO Seafood restaurant may not a big restaurant but they are at least 15 chefs whipping out the dishes, we were surprised with the number of chefs involved but according to Adrian, this is to ensure the consistency of the quality since each chef only responsible for one to two dishes. Too many cooks may spoil the soup may have it logic.
