Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa – Mega Christmas Brunch
Time flies like nobody’s business, doesn’t it? We are coming to the end of November and with Christmas just a few blinks away, my heart starts pumping harder in anticipation of the season. ‘Tis the season to be jolly, and it’s time to reward our bellies with heaps of ham, cakes, pastries, and mashed potatoes.
Have you been naughty or nice this year? Well, it doesn’t really matter. You deserve a treat for conquering 2018: Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa’s luxurious Mega Christmas Brunch is a feast to pamper all five, or even six of your senses.
The extravaganza of food and drinks begins at Kwee Zeen and ends at the Cliff, setting the stage for a plethora of Christmas favourites. While you swoon over the spread and sip on a dainty glass of rosé, keep your eyes peeled for the fat bearded man’s appearance and an angelic choir of carolers.
Hold out your empty plate with an equally empty stomach at the charcuterie section, as the chefs cut up chunky pieces of tantalizing meat and place them right before your eyes.
With a decent selection of cuts waiting for you to devour, be sure to return for extra servings of the Honey-glazed Ham and Roasted Beef Sirloin. While the former boasts a catchy sweet-savoury profile that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, the latter is so juicy and succulent, a quality that is hard to achieve when it comes to beef.
Before you eager beavers proceed to stuff your face with the meats, don’t miss out on the range of sauces – Port Wine Sauce, Turkey Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, and Pineapple Sauce. While some of the meats taste divine without any help, the sauces elevate the texture by imparting its moistness or adding a touch of tartness.
Hop over to the salads and sides to take a break from your carnivorous ventures, or simply seek comfort in a bowl of Pea Soup with bread. Infamous for being a kid’s nightmare during dinnertime, peas are not as appreciated as they should be, but this soup definitely does the vegetable justice.
Move on to the Seafood Paella, a fluffy yellow rice dish loaded with plump shrimps, mussels and squid rings. Chock-full of flavours from the sea, the rice is also rich and creamy. I didn’t mind getting my butt up for seconds, thirds, and fourths.
Do you know what’s inside Santa’s big belly? CAKES! Nobody can ever resist cakes, especially during the festive season and at Sofitel, you’ll be spoiled with three Christmas specials – Ivory Lemon Lime Yuzu Log Cake, Traditional Chocolate Log Cake, and Charlotte Strawberry Rhubarb Cake.
Kids will go gaga over the Traditional Chocolate Log Cake, which sees alternating layers of a dense chocolate sponge, caramel cream, chocolate cream, and biscuit bits when you cut through it with a fork.
