The eating house Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh has always been synonymous with the most beloved dishes in the island. They might not be the original inventor but they’re definitely one of the few pioneers that started this mouth-watering treat here. Of course, much credit goes to all food lovers out there who helped create one of the most iconic food that we can truly call our own. We tried both the Rangoon main and the branch at Tanjong Katong, the quality is consistent and the same goes to the crowd – it’s simply amazing!

The herb is more pronounced and the peppery taste is mild if compared to that of Ya Hua or Joo Siah’s bak kut. Perhaps the unique aroma of herb and pepper, together with the hall-mark use of fresh pork ribs, is the one that attracted many and crowned one of the kings of Bak Kut Teh here. Of course, let’s not forget the twist brought about by the garlic and their secret blend of other ingredients. The soup is great. However, our best pick as one of the five top Bak Kut Teh in Singapore sadly does not go to this well-received brand. We have a secret love for another one.
