Nam Kee Fried Prawn Noodle – pay for the taste 南記炒虾面
There is always a love-hate feeling when it comes to Fried Hokkien prawn noodle, love it definitely for its scrumptious taste and hate it for its cholesterol-saturation. However, it is a tough challenge to resist and when the aroma of the noodle hits us, we couldn’t help but welcome the plate of Nam Kee fried prawn noodle on our table.
We ordered the $4 plate; it seemed a little too expensive for the portion served, however, Nam Kee was more generous with the squid / sotong, which partially offset the initial impression of it being over-priced.
The dish came with the usual mix of yellow and white noodles, with a good firmness and that was not too soggy. The noodles also sufficiently soaked up the essence of the stock, creating a taste that was flavourful and packed with seafood sweetness; it was further enhanced by the freshness of the prawns, sotong and the eggs to give it a full flavour. The sambal chili was not overly spicy and went quite well with the noodle.
Overall, Nam Kee Fried Prawn Noodle is scrumptious and savory, though perhaps the price could be on the high side for some; however, judging by the quality and taste, in our opinion the price we paid was justifiable.
