Lynn’s Cakes and Coffee – as lovely as Minion
Lynn’s Cakes and Coffee is owned none other than by Lynn herself. Her passion for baking started out when she first baked for her daughter’s class party. Soon, one thing led to another and before she knew it, she was baking not just cupcakes, but also tiered cakes for special events like weddings and birthdays. Following her passion, Lynn even got a Professional Cake Maker Diploma in Sugar Floristry by a renowned cake academy in London.
The entire bakery café was very classy and modern, with lightwood furniture matched with some plain white walls. It gave off a very bright and positive feel, making you instantly feel upbeat and happy when you walk through the main doors. Initially, we only ordered the Rainbow Cake, New York Cheesecake and Chocolate Espresso Cake, but because we liked what we had, we went on to try their Carrot Cake and their Oreo Cheesecake.
Rainbow Beauty ($8.50)
We were immediately attracted by this beauty when we were placing our orders. Glad that we made this choice, for it not only looked gorgeous, the cake was also moist with a rich vanilla and butter flavour. The cake was also not too sweet, thumbs up!
New York Cheesecake ($6.50)
From the buttery crust to the rich and creamy cheesecake, the whole composition was just lovely. Once again, the cake isn’t too sweet.
Chocolate Espresso ($6.50)
Cake like the previous two was also moist and not too sweet, with a lingering espresso taste at the end of every mouthful. Simple but good!
Oreo Cheesecake ($7.00)
Drenched in chocolate sauce, the oreo cheesecake had generous servings of Oreos (yay for all Oreo fans out there!) it was fragrant and while we all thought that it was of just the right sweetness, our mum thinks it’s sweeter than it needs to be.
Carrot Cake ($6.00)
Said to be the signature of the shop, the carrot cake has got a fragrant layer of cream cheese at the top and mid-section; the cake was very moist and dense with a distinct cinnamon taste. This was slightly on the sweeter side, compared to the cakes before. May get a little cloying after a few mouthfuls! However, overall still a sumptuous piece of cake.
Overall, the cakes at Lynn’s are all of a better than average standard, if not good! They even do customisations (here’s a picture of a minion cake, I’m melting from the cuteness!!!) we now know who to call next time if we need cakes for an event, or just a place to chill with your friends and bond with good quality layered cakes.
