Loving Hut is one of the largest franchises of vegan restaurants in the world with more than 200 outlets in major cities all over the world. So far, Loving Hut Singapore has one branch and is currently located in Joo Chiat.
Loving Hut believes that a plant-based diet is healthier, more compassionate, and is the only sustainable diet for the whole planet. All the menu items are made with wholesome, plant-based ingredients. Each Loving Hut outlet is free to create their own menu thus giving a distinctive difference among all of its locations.

Loving Hut Singapore serves Asian and Western cuisines, the cafe is cosy and the serving crews are friendly and pleasant.
Avocado Smoothie ($8.50) / Morning Glory ($5.90) / Aloe Lemon ($4.90)

Amongst the drinks we ordered, the Avocado Smoothie was the most satisfying one, the fragrance of avocado mixed with the sweetness of coconut water made it a flavourful delight.
Morning Glory was a mix of citrus zest and was a refreshing drink overall.
First of all, when dining at a vegan café, you need to get the right mindset; remind yourself there is no meat, no dairy, no eggs. The umami sensation will not have a brothy or meaty taste. By being mindful of that difference, even a non-vegan will be able to appreciate the beauty of the vegan dishes.
Banana Leaf Nasi Campur ($12.90)

This Indonesian dish served in a larger than normal plate, easily double of the standard dining plate. It features servings of mock egg made from tumeric tofu, veggies, mock rendang, spicy eggplant and fruit achar with the unpolished mixed rice. The side dishes were reasonably tasty except the fruit achar which was tasted sweet instead of savoury that created some controversy amongst us.
Char Kway Teow ($9.90)

How good is fried kway teow without lard, Chinese sausage, or eggs? Surprisingly, vegan fried kway teow without the above scored fairly well. The seasoning in the noodles with mushrooms somehow able to reproduce the characteristics of a good kway teow. We highly recommend to order dish.
Aglio Olio Supremo With Chili Padi ($13.90)

Without the usual prawns or other shellfish to perk up the flavour, Loving Hut relied on basic seasoning hopefully to entice the tastebuds. It seemed a daunting task but the result was a plate of satisfying aglio olio as evidenced by my son who practically wolfed everything down in seconds! Another recommended dish here.
Fried Mee Suan ($12.90)

On the opposite end f the spectrum, the mee suan tasted so bland it was like eating raw mee suan. It was a manifestation of the ‘health food’ stereotype which usually sends us running for fast food.
Wow! Pot Pie ($16.90)

My daughter never fails to take full advantage of making her dad to pay by ordering the most expensive dish of the night. She was expecting the “wow” effect, but her expression showed otherwise. To be fair, the broth in the pot pie was not at all bad, it was just more ordinary than its namesake.

Five Spice Roll (Ngoh Hiang) ($9.90)

Seasoning in the five spice roll or Ngoh Hiang was well assimilated by all the ingredients. The seafood aroma or sweetness may not be there but the overall flavour was pleasantly good. Another worth to order dish.
Oh Nee (Yam Paste) ($7.90)

Average Teochew dessert, the flavour of the “orh” (yam) was not distinct enough.
Basket of Trio Crisps ($12.90)

A mixture of crunchy prongs (vegan prawns?), french fries and onion rings deep fried and served with tartar dip and chili sauce. The unhealthy among the healthy food but always the kid’s favorite.
Our Verdict: Loving Hut Singapore
Loving Hut Singapore promotes healthy eating and a menu combination of soul foods with the twist to the local palate. Overall, the food in generally is good from a vegan perspective, the cosy environment and the friendly service heightened the overall experience making the trip an enjoyable one.
