Not too many hawkers can have a hand of getting into those finer points and we dare to say that First Street Teochew Fish Soup is definitely one of the very few able to perfect the dish.
Located in the coffeeshop in Hougang along the stretch of shops that house the popular Yong Teochew Kueh, What is so good this fish soup stall? There are few options available; you can opt for Mackerel (Batang) or pomfret or seafood mixture, all of them can either go with rice or mee.
We ordered two types of fish soup, the ordinary fish soup $4 and the $5 one that served with extra minced meat. Firstly, the Mackerel fish was fresh and cooked to the right doneness; the stock was perfectly seasoned to allow you enjoy the sweetness from the seafood.
However, we strongly recommend you considering the extra minced meat version, the minced meat greatly elevated the overall taste to the next level and make First Street Teochew Fish Soup one of the best fish soup we come across so far. The long queue during the peak period was another solid testimony to its popularity.
Overall, First Street Teochew Fish Soup is definitely qualified to be one of the best fish soup in town. Always go for the extra minced meat for the extra flavour. The price may be slightly in the steep side but we think it is value for money for the great bowl of fish soup.
