Different Taste Café and Restaurants 特味小厨
Our original plan was to try the popular Penang Fried Kway Teow at The Different Taste, however, it was during the Lunar New Year period and only limited varieties were available, unfortunately our favorite Penang Fried Kway Teow was not one of the choices and we had to opt for the Al la carte.
Assam Fish head
The fishhead was fresh, immersed in the tangy of assam and chili flavour, the gravy set off a sour sweet twist and a comforting nostalgia hearty meal that we do enjoy.
Prawn Roll / Hei Zho
The prawn roll was exceptionally big in size compared to the normal prawn roll from most of the restaurants. The roll was packed with diced prawn, minced pork and spices, not saturated with flour to cut cost. Dip into the plum sauce and taste delectable.
Eggs omelette
The omelette was cooked with prawn, carrot and onions. The combination was a dish of savory omelette that well received by everyone.
Broccoli with mushroom
Broccoli was crunchy you can’t expect the restaurant use good grade of mushroom for a dish of less than $10. This was an ordinary dish with an ordinary taste.
Ee Fu noodles
A very simple dish with just few slices of mushroom and bean sprout hidden in between the noodles, nothing extra to boost the taste, may be too simple that we kind of lost the interest of the noodle half way through. We got to force ourselves to finish the dish so not to waste the food.
Overall, the different taste was not tasted too different after all; perhaps it was the hearty home cook taste that beguiling the return of the patrons. Of course, a zhi char place in a restaurant setting but without the service charge and GST is another good reason to tempt the crowd.
