For the Bedok North residents, Chin Lee Restaurant is a familiar household name for a Teochew feast. Founded in 1973, Chin Lee Restaurant offers a wide variety of Teochew cuisine operating from the shop at the ground floor of the HDB.

The restaurant has an air-conditioned area and an outdoor sitting area with air coolers and fans to maintain a comfortable dining environment.

The food is generally acceptable but one of the key attractions is the reasonable price tag, no service charge and free flow of soft drinks could easily offset some of your load from the cost.

We were celebrating the old folk’s birthday and opted for the 10 pax $388 package.

五福临门 “5 Kinds” Deluxe Platter


The platter comes with 5 kinds of starters, prawns salad, prawn rolls, crunchy jellyfish, deep fried crispy stick and fried mixed veggies. It is a fairly standard cold plate and the taste generally acceptable.

鲜蟹金针菇鱼翅 Shark’s Fin Soup with Crabmeat and Enokitake


You can taste and enjoy the reasonable serving of Shark’s Fin, Crabmeat and Enokitake.

潮蒸红曹 Teochew Style Steamed Red Snapper


Teochews emphasize greatly the freshness and originality of the flavour from seafood, and believe in using minimal and light seasoning condiments to appreciate the beauty of the fish. That’s what Chin Lee delivered. We truly enjoyed the perfect doneness and sweetness of the fish.

蒜茸脆皮鸡 Roasted Chicken Flavoured with Golden Garlic


Adhering to the basic principles of a roasted chicken, tender chicken but seasoning apparently at the lighter end, a bit bland in the taste.

干贝豆根扒时蔬 Garden Green Served with Special Bean Stick & Conpoy

Sorry forgot to take a picture but fairly standard dish.

酱皇炒虾 Stir-Fried Prawn in Special Sauce


Stir-fried prawns cooked in the special sauce, prawns by nature already packed with sweetness, the add-on special sauce simply enhanced the flavour to give it a nice twist.

干烧尹面 “Ee Fu” Noodle


Simple fried Ee Fu noodle but taste good.

Add on the following dishes to the set menu.

Coffee Pork Ribs


This is one of the restaurant’s signature dishes recommended by the waitress. Pork ribs were deep fried and coated with the sweet and savory coffee-flavored sauce. The tender meat went well with the succulent sauce and received nods from all of us.


Pork Trotter Jelly 猪脚冻


An Authentic Teochew Delicacy, the extracted collagen and the gelatin turned into a jelly-like broth, and was then served cold. It has a chewy and crunchy texture and was perhaps the highlight of the pork trotter jelly. However, you may choose beauty over the cholesterol.

Orh Nee – Yam paste


How can you neglect the Orh Nee when you are dining in a Teochew restaurant? The sweetness and fragrance of this Teochew dessert make a perfect finishing touch for the meal.

Our verdict on Chin Lee Restaurant

Chin Lee restaurant offers a good range of Teochew cuisine with its reasonable price and food quality. If you are not too petty about environment and ambience, Chin Lee can be considered a good communal dining place for families and friends.
