The Bark Café
Sometimes, cafes spend much time and effort in creating lovely aesthetic environments and a relaxing ambience, only to neglect the quality of their food. However, that’s not the case for The Bark Café, located right beside Changi Chapel & Museum, as they manage to create an idyllic surrounding while serving up a wide variety of stellar dishes consisting of both local and Western fusion.
Some of the “Must Try” orders include Seafood Hor Fun, chicken wings, potato wedges and mee goreng. My son is a horfun fanatic and it’s usually one of his top choices whenever when we go food hunting. So we’ve had plenty of opportunity to experience various renditions of Hor Fun in Singapore. Here, the Hor Fun comes with crayfish, squid, prawn and vegetable; all the seafood was fresh, but what impressed us was the Hor Fun itself, with the noodles very well done with a much needed wok hei immersed in the thick sauce. A nice creation that can satisfy picky taste buds.
Do try their famous chicken wings as well, you will see almost every table with a basket of chicken wings on the table. They’re well marinated, crisp on the outside an juicy on the inside, with a nice scent of fermented shrimp, even famous chef – Eric Neo – commented that this is one of the best chicken wings he has ever tried! The Bark Café is really a great al fresco place to chill out at.
The mee goreng was very well cooked, with every strand of the noodle were coated with a rich sauce, emanating a really pleasant aroma. The mee is subtle yet really well prepared, a great rendition of this humble dish.
The potato wedge was fried to perfection with a tender interior and light crispness on the exterior, and while indulging in this flavourful an tasty potato, we found ourselves planning the next trip here.
